A water plant that can produce 1,600 tonnes of water per day has been established in the main airport of the Maldives.
Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL)’s Managing Director Adil Moosa on Tuesday announced that establishment of the water plant in Velana International Airport (VIA) cost MVR 60 million. He stated that the plant was developed to last several years.
The two-storey water plant is located in an area measuring 6,000 square feet in the northern side of Hulhule island. The plant features four tanks that can store 1,100 tonnes of water each. Previously, only 700 tonnes of water were produced at the airport with a storage of 2,600 tonnes.
“The water plant is of the same level as other ongoing airport development projects. The water produced here will be of the highest quality in the Maldives,” MD Adil proclaimed.
