President Abdulla Yameen on Wednesday proposed to appoint Neeza Imad as the new governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
The president submitted his proposal to the parliament following the resignation of MMA’s former governor Dr Azeema Adam on Wednesday morning.
Neeza Imad, the current assistant governor, is a veteran employee of MMA who also heads the Financial Stability department of the institution. Moreover, she is a member of MMA’s Board of Directors.
She is the younger sister of Masud Imad, who was the spokesperson of the President’s Office during the regime of former President Mohamed Waheed, and Mahdi Imad, the incumbent chairman of the Transport Authority.
