Yameen Rasheed, 29, was found dead with multiple stab wounds on his neck and chest
A MALDIVIAN blogger who mocked ISIS thugs has been hacked to death in the popular Brit honeymoon destination.
Yameen Rasheed was found dead in his apartment in Maldives capital city Malé on Sunday with multiple stab wounds on his neck and chest.
The 29-year-old activist, who identified himself as “disobedient writer” online, posted criticism of radical Islam and poked fun at the nation’s politicians on his blog, The Daily Panic.
His death comes amid fears of rising extremism in the country as 100,000 Brits- many of them newlyweds – flock to the Indian Ocean paradise every year.
Friends of Yameen told The Sun Online he had recently complained to police after he received death threats through his social media accounts.

Fellow Maldivian blogger Muju Naeem, who also writes about religious extremism and secularism, said: “I had been friends with Yameen for seven years. We started our activism together with a couple of other friends.
“He had ongoing death threats for a while and lodged them to police last December, and in January and February of this year.
“I knew he started having nightmares the last few months because he was really afraid by the extremists – and nobody was helping him.
“He kept a public record of the abusive messages on his blog and we often discussed them as we understood we had to protect each other.”
Muju, who fears for his life, says he’s been living in self-exile at an undisclosed location after he also received death threats for his “anti-Islamic” views on his blog.
