Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)’s president Hassan Luthufee on Thursday claimed that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has once again granted permission for Hajj Groups in violation of the informed process and, thus, action will be taken against ministry officials responsible.

ACC had first ordered the Islamic Ministry to evaluate the proposals of groups, that propose to take pilgrims on the Islamic holy pilgrimage of Hajj to Saudi Arabia, before awarding permission. However, the Islamic Ministry granted permission to Hajj Groups without proper evaluation, prompting ACC to issue a second order to the ministry.

As per the order, the ministry conducted the evaluation. However, the ministry has granted permission to the same Hajj Groups, which are Hajj Corporation, Al-Haramain Hajj and Umra Group, Sisilfar Hajj and Umra group, and Zai group.

While ACC’s president has condemned the decision of the Islamic Ministry, a number of other Hajj Groups who also submitted proposals are preparing to file lawsuits over the matter.
