Maldives Finance Forum 2017 to be held on 11th May

Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) has announced the Maldives Finance Forum 2017 to be held on the 11th of May. The proposed theme for this year’s forum is Investment Management Industry and Emergence of Professional Investment Management in the Maldives.

According to the concept paper circulated by MPAO, participation in the forum is free, by invite only with limited seats assigned to the public, and is targeted towards executives from the following areas:

  • Banks, Insurance Companies, and Other Financial Institutions
  • Banking and Financial Sector Regulators
  • Accounting Services Providers, Law Firms, and Audit Firms
  • Policy Making Ministries; Ministry of Finance and Treasury, Ministry of Economic Development, Public Enterprise Monitory and Evaluation Board
  • SOEs
  • State and Private Funds
  • Academia
  • Members of Public

The concept paper further states that MPAO administers and manages the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme (MRPS). The aim of MRPS is to provide an adequate retirement income for its members. The Investment Management Industry contributes to the development of the financial and capital market and manages money on behalf of their clients. The industry caters both to the institutional segment as well as the retail segment. The Institutional segment mainly comprises of pension funds, endowments, foundations, SWF and central banks.
