Malaysia on Monday offered 500 higher education scholarships from an array of different areas to Maldivian students.
The scholarships offered by Malaysia’s Higher Education Ministry, under its initiative “Education Global Service” EMGC, was presented by the CEO of EMGC, Naudheen Thajudheen. The Maldives’ Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham accepted the scholarships on behalf of the Maldivian government.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister stated that 100 postgraduate and 400 undergraduate scholarships will be available for students. The opportunity for application will be announced next week.
Under the scholarship, students could choose from 17 different government and private universities of their choice, while availing a 50 percent discount on tuition fees.
She also noted that students could choose to bear additional expenses privately or through a supplementary loan. She also announced that Malaysia has granted 10 fully funded loans to develop personnel in the education sector.
Limkokwing University of Malaysia had also offered 128 scholarships to Maldivian students in January.
