Main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s National Committee on Tuesday night passed a resolution to get back the lands they allege has been illegally sold by the current government.

The resolution, proposed byMP of Machangolhi North constituency Maariya Ahmed Didi, states that MDP will not stand for the selling of any piece of land against the will of the general public.

Noting that the government’s continuation of such discussions in secrecy despite the rising concerns of the public must include some hidden agenda, MDP declared that such an action might cause irrevocable damage to the citizens.

The resolution vowed that such lands sold unlawfully will be taken back under MDP’s administration.

In the midst of several rumours that Faafu Atoll is being sold to the Saudi Royal family, cabinet ministers and lawmakers of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) have declared that the atoll is only being awarded for a mega project.
