Liyah Stands As The Hot Contender To Defend His Golden Boot After Match Day Two

Match Day Two brought lots of exciting action as huge teams welcomed the new campaign in the evening.  The total goal tally of the day reached to 32, with 4 hat-tricks scored in 6 matches played.

Mohamed Liyah (Liyah) of Thilafushi Corporation Limited, who won the Golden Boot of Club Maldives Cup 2017 already proved his top-class form as he stands as the hot contender for the Golden Boot after the Match Day. Remaining hat-tricks came from Rimah Ahmed (Rimah) and Ali Fahmee of Maldives Media Club. Rimah lacked a single goal to extend his goal tally to six, and to record his second hat-trick of the night.



Police Club defeated Wamco with 3-0, where all goals came in the second half of the match.

The first goal of the match was scored by Fathimath Zahira in the 27th minute of the match. Fadhuwa Zahir doubled their lead just after three minutes, and their foreign player Sabitra Bhandari scored the third goal in the 37th minute.

Police Club’s Fadhuwa won the Queen of the match award.

With this result, Police Club tops Group A of 18/30 WFF.



Thilafushi Corporation Limited stroll passed hapless Medianet, as they won the match 10-0. Irfan’s men stand as one of the top favourites of the tournament with a very strong team displaying absolute clinical game.

The man of the tournament winner, the Best Five Player winner and the Golden Boot Winner of Club Maldives Cup 2017, Liyah scored two hat-tricks on the match.

From the other four goals, Ibrahim Furugan (Fugey) scored a brace, Mohamed Riffath (Rippe) and Abdulla Ziyan (Junky), who also won the Best Five Player Award of Club Maldives Cup 2017, each scored a goal.

Mighty United BML faced a last-minute defeat against Club HDC. The only goal of the game came on the last minute of the game, which was scored by Mohamed Sujan of HDC, who also won the man of the match award.

The match between Police Club and Team Fenaka brought a breathtaking action as Team Fenaka came from behind to secure a point.

Police Club took the lead in the 6th minute of the match and extended it just after a minute. Late drama from Ahmed Haleem of Team Fenaka ended the match2-2, where he scored both goals in the space of five minutes in the dying minutes of the game.

In the 5th match of the tournament, Maldives Media Club thrashed Islamic Affairs with 12-1.

Ahmed Rimah of Maldives Media Club scored five goals to create the glimpse of hope towards the new campaign. On the other hand, Ali Fahmee scored another hat-trick for Maldives Media Club and Ahmed Yameen scored a brace. Ali Maah and Rilwan Jamal each scored a goal.

The only goal from the Islamic Affairs came on the last minute of the first half, which was scored by Mohamed Fawaz.

Rimah won the Man of the Match award for his fine display.

In the last match of the night, Customs Recreation Club won the match against Housing with 1-0, after a competitive display.

Ibrahim Waheed (Sego) won the Man of the Match award. With this win, Customs RC tops Group D.
