King proves his worthiness on the throne

Ali Hafiz (Haappe) proves his worthiness to remain on the throne, as he scored a marvellous hat trick on United BML’s 3-0 victory over Ooredoo in the first semi-final of Club Maldives Cup 2019.

Ooredoo began well, trying to take control of the game at the initial stages. However, BML gradually improved and began dominating the game with the master class from Haappe.

BML played the first half without one of their key player Ishan Ibrahim (Sattu) as he obtained an injury in the quarterfinal. On the other hand, Ooredoo played without Mohamed Fashir due to injury, as well, who have been performing well in the tournament this year.

Haappe took the lead for BML in the first half, with a powerful low shot just outside the goal area. Ooredoo’s attempts to get into the game were well stopped by the goalkeeper Mohamed Shafeeu (Shaappe) of BML.

Haappe extended the lead in the second half, which made it almost impossible for Ooredoo to come back to the game again. But they kept on trying and created decent chances. Nevertheless, they were unfortunate to register a goal.

Man of the night, Haappe scored a third of the match and completed his semi-final hat trick, after a perfect combination with Mohamed Nasid Ahmed Naseem (Naatte), few minutes from fulltime.

United BML won the tournament on 2016 and they had a heart-breaking farewell to the tournament last year when they were knocked out from the second round against MTCC after the penalty shootout.
