Kanuhura Maldives adds new island in major makeover

Kanuhura Maldives has undergone a US$42 million renovation that includes the purchase of a neighbouring island and plans to set up the country’s first martial arts academy.

Located in the Lhaviyani Atoll, Kanuhura is operated by Mauritius-based hotel group Sun Resorts, which appointed Robert Hauck, formerly of Raffles Hotels, as Kanuhura’s new general manager.

“We have a sheltered location over three islands and are blessed with a heritage of repeat guests over the past 20 years,” said Hauck. “We are now developing experiences for guests where they can stay fit and totally relax.”

As part of the renovation, Kanuhura acquired its neighbouring island, Masleggihura. This becomes the third resort in the island cluster – the resort also owns the island of Jehunuhura, just one minute’s boat ride away.
