Joozan shines as the defending champions march on for a double

Fathimath Joozan Zareer of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) scored four goals on their comfortable win against Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) by 6-2 in the first semifinal of 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta (WFF).
MPL was looking solid throughout the match with the perfect leadership from their captain Fathimath Saliya. DSC threatened the goal and created goal-scoring chances mostly on counterattacks. Their hardworking Sohila Malmoulitarazi was exemplary and did everything she could do to keep them going until the final whistle.
Joozan took an early lead for MPL, with a perfect turnover and shooting the ball to the far post. She doubled the lead from a misjudged ball by DSC’s goalkeeper Saaiga Hussain.

DSC created great chances to equalize in the first half, but Mariyam Rifa was unfortunate to convert a couple of chances created by Sohila. On the other hand, Sohila took the best chance to score one, on a long-range penalty. Nevertheless, the high concentrated goalkeeper, Azam Akhondi, of MPL saved her penalty.
DSC scored their first goal in the second half when Sohila grabbed a back pass of MPL. She ran halfway, dribbling past the defender to break the deadlock.

Joozan completed her hat trick and then scored her fourth of the match to place one hand on the tournament trophy. Aaminath Shaamila, who had threatening runs often to the opponents half, scored the fifth goal for MPL.
DSC scored their second goal when they have rewarded a penalty for a foul committed in the penalty area of MPL. Sohila made no mistake this time, in beating Azam Akhondi from the spot.
Sahar Zamanifard scored the sixth goal for MPL from a long-range penalty to seal the match. They are now on the edge to repeat the glory, like last year.
