Jaufar: We are optimistic to change the history

Head Coach of Team MTCC, Jaufar Ali states that the whole team is optimistic ahead of the Quarter Final clash against MPL tonight, in the Club Maldives Cup 2018. Speaking to the media of Club Maldives, Jaufar further stated that tonight’s match is very important for them in several ways.

At the first place, they still taste the bitterness of the final match defeat on penalties in the very first edition of Club Maldives Cup, which was way back in 2006. Secondly, they haven’t defeated MPL in either of their previous competitive head-to-head clashes.

“Tonight’s match is very special for us as we are looking to change the history by recording our first victory against MPL. Players are in a great spirit to make this happen.

MTCC were drawn in the group of death along with STO RC, Club Immigration and Wamco. And we were the least favorites in the group, I believe. But we made a great start by defeating STO RC at the beginning. That boosted the energy of the players.

And when it comes to defending, our players show great character. That is the reason why we are here today”, Jaufar said.

Jaufar believes that their magical run in the competition is due to the dedication of the players. MTCC have scored a tally of seven goals so far in the tournament. On the other hand, their goal keeper Vishan Abdul Majeed has kept three clean sheets in four matches.

MTCC held United BML in the nerve-wracking round of 16 clash on Saturday, before defeating them 5-4 on penalties.
The Quarter Final clash between Team MTCC and MPL will kick off at 21:45hrs, Ekuveni Futsal Ground, Male’.
