Indian PM arrives in Maldives for Solih’s inauguration

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the Maldives to attend the inauguration of Maldivian President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu).

This is Modi’s first visit to the Maldives – the only South Asian country Modi has not paid a visit to the past four and a half years.

Outgoing President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s presidency saw a strengthening of ties between Maldives and China deterioration of ties between Maldives and India.

The decision by Modi to attend Solih’s inauguration is seen as a sign of possible reconciliation between Maldives and India during Solih’s presidency.

Modi has pledged support to Solih’s administration, especially in areas of infrastructure, health care, connectivity and human resource development.

Solih’s inauguration will begin at 5 pm at the national football stadium this Saturday.

Welcome to Maldives , sakravarthi of Hindu shamrajya. Maldives is happy to join the Hindu brethren to destroy Islam in this region. May Maldives become bastion of hindutva in the coming years
