I never make my personal interests a priority in performing my duties – President Yameen – Press Releases

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reiterated that in performing the duties as President, he puts forth the interests of the nation, and not of his own. The President made this statement while speaking at a function held by the Progressive Party of Maldives this evening.

The President stated that his goal as a presidential candidate of 2013, was to maintain the Maldivian republic, and uphold the democratic system adopted by the Maldivian people. He said that his team began their work with the determination to attain for the people, the freedom, peace, progress, joy and prosperity they deserved.

Noting that the dream of the average Maldivian was a better tomorrow, President Yameen said that his aim was to realise this dream for the people, of a more prosperous, wealthy, and developed country. The President underscored that taking the oath of office of the President puts one on the front line of serving the nation.

The President further stated that he was determined to double his efforts into increasing the progress seen in the Maldives today, and increasing future developmental undertakings.
