The High Court on Sunday ordered the release of Thayyib Shaheem, a social media activist of main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), who has been under the arrest of Maldives Police Service over allegedly spreading false information and inciting fear among the public.
Thayyib’s lawyer Nazim Abdul Sattar said that he was released under three conditions. These include to stop defaming the government of the Maldives, to support Maldives Police Service and to stay in capital Male.
Thayyib, who was arrested March 17, was granted immediate release during the appeal of his second remand.
