President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that his Administration had to take over resolving issues faced by Malé citizens due to Malé City Council not attending to their responsibilities properly. The President made this remark while speaking at a function held by the Progressive Party of Maldives.
In his speech, President highlighted the fact that Malé City Council has a separate budget to tackle issues faced by the public but that his Administration could not accept the City Council not doing enough to address issues. Therefore necessary changes were brought into effect by the Administration and towards solving issues of waste management through the industrial village. The Administration is addressing the issue of flooding roads during monsoon season.
Continuing in this vein, the President reiterated that Maldives is one nation and that all citizens were equal. He further stated that all Maldivians were equal and that every citizen should get equal opportunities.
