The 40-year-old has signed for Maldives side New Radiant SC as The Blues head into their final four matches of Malé League.

Oscar Bruzon, the former head coach of I-League outfit Mumbai FC, has been appointed as the gaffer of Maldivian side New Radiant Sports Club. The 40-year-old takes over the boss’ seat as The Blues prepare themselves for the final four matches of the Malé League.

Bruzon replaces Portuguese manager Bernardo Tavares at the club, who led New Radiant SC to seven wins in their ten league games. However, the club management’s dissatisfaction over the 37-year-old’s results meant that Tavares was shown the door in the middle of the season.

The management was of the opinion the club could have pulled off better results, especially with the likes of top guns namely goalkeeper Imran Mohamed, Spanish striker Adrian Gallardo Valdes and Maldives National Team starters Abdul Ganee and Ahmed Abdulla, at the club.

Oscar Bruzon had several stints in India since 2012- the Spaniard had his debut spell in the country as a head coach at Sporting Clube de Goa followed by an assistant coach’s role at Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC in 2015.

His latest spell at India came in the form of a managerial role with The Mumbaikars, following the exit of Santosh Kashyap. Bruzon, in his less-than-a-month period at the club, led Mumbai to two goalless draws but failed to save them from being relegated.

Bruzon’s managerial debut at New Radiant SC is scheduled for next week as The Blues will lock horns with minnows United Victory on Tuesday. Termed as one of the most successful clubs in the country, New Radiant SC is almost certain to qualify for Dhivehi Premier League.
