First female justices appointed to Supreme Court

The Maldives has first seen female justices be appointed to the Supreme Court of the country.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Dr Esmeralda Zahir and Ms Aishath Shujoon Mohamed to the Supreme Court of the Maldives marking a landmark for the country and its judiciary.

The new justices were sworn in at a ceremony held in the President’s Office by Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi.
