Fadhuwa aiming for her sixth championship title


As the 9th edition of the biggest futsal tournament in the Maldives for women, the 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta (WFF) prepares to create its very last and most incredible moments when Police Club face MPL in the final, Fadhuwa is targeting to add her sixth championship title of the competition.

Fadhuwa is the most successful player in the history of the competition with five championship titles and one silver medal. Moreover, when she comes up to the field for tomorrow’s final, there will be no other player who had appeared more in the competition finals than her, with a remarkable seven appearances in the nine year history of the competition.

Mariyam Mirufath is the only other player who has equal number of silverware as Fadhuwa in the competition, as both never played apart, but this year.

Out of the five championship titles, she won it four times with Club Immigration and once with MNDF. Will it be her sixth, with Police Club on Tuesday?

Talking to the media of Club Maldives ahead of the final, she stated that MPL hold the disadvantage with one foreign player used as a goalkeeper. Whereas they have both foreigners deployed in an attacking role.

Both the foreign players of Police Club are from Nepal, and they are professionals who play for the national team.

On the other hand, Fadhuwa expects a great contest in the match, as MPL is capable of turning the match at any point.

The final match will be played on Tuesday at 20:30hrs at Ekuveni Futsal Ground, Male’.
