EPA names and shames garbage dumping offenders

The Environmental Protection Agency on Sunday started publicly naming individuals who litter and dump garbage on the streets of the capital.

The agency has tweeted the name and permanent address of three individuals who have been fined for littering. The tweets included photos and the dumping location.

The EPA thanked the police for their “continued collaboration in enforcing the waste regulation.”

A nation-wide cleanup programme was launched last month as part of the new administration’s first 100-day agenda.

The EPA has been under fire recently over what environmental activists are calling #MvTreeGrab, the transfer of trees from local islands for the landscaping of new resorts, many of which are being built on reclaimed land.
