Embudu Lagoon Development Project Has Commenced

The massive project of developing the huge resort inclusive of duty-free shops in Kaafu Atoll Embudu Lagoon has commenced. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Tourism Minister of Maldives, Moosa Zameer.

This project is being developed by a Thailand based company; Singha Estate in collaboration with the world-renowned Hard Rock international hotel group. It is forecasted that the total cost of this project will reach $40 Million (MVR 616.8 Million).

This chains of resorts that are being developed in Embudu Lagoon will consist of 10 resorts. According to Singha Estate and Hard Rock, they are preparing to launch 3 resorts during the first phase of this project and are expecting to open it by next year.

Phase one will also comprise with various duty free shops, a yacht marina which can accommodate a large number of guests, more than 20 food and beverage destinations, a world-class beach club, a center devoted to both local and culture marine life, meeting and wedding facilities and more than 7 different hotel brands to choose from.

Singha Estate and Hard Rock International Hotel Group leased the Embudu Lagoon for 50 years from the Government of Maldives
