The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has revoked the suspension of three lawyers including the deputy leader of religiously conservative Adhaalath Party, Ali Zahir.
DJA revoked the suspension of Shashma Abdu Razzaq and Sharha Moosa in addition to Zahir on Wednesday.
In an announcement made by DJA, they stated that the investigations involving these three lawyers have been closed though no details were shared. It added that the lawyers are now free to resume advocating at courts.
In September 2017, a total of 54 lawyers were suspended by DJA after a petition was submitted to the Supreme Court raising concerns over the judicial system and calling out to uphold the law. While this was the most number of lawyers suspended at once in the Maldives, DJA has revoked the suspension of 44 of the lawyers.
