COVID-19: HPA lifts restrictions on three resorts, one safari

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Saturday revealed that monitoring measures placed on three resorts and one safari were lifted after all the samples from all four places came negative.

According to HPA, temporary monitoring measures enacted were lifted from Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives Resort, Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives, JA Manafaru Maldives Resort and Maahaa Safari.

As per the current protocols set in place, if samples are taken from any individual on an island, resort or safari, the place will be put under monitoring until test results are obtained.

Till date, Maldives confirmed a total of 16 COVID-19 cases with 11 recoveries. From this, one case is local while the rest are foreigners who are either tourists or resort staff working in the country.

At the moment, there are 824 placed in quarantine facilities and 20 people placed in isolation.

The World Health Organization has classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The novel coronavirus has infected more than 663,700 and claimed over 30,800 lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 142,100 have recovered.
