The Criminal Court released the arrested lawmaker of Thulusdhoo constituency, Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, on Thursday with conditions.

Upon being presented to the court for his fourth remand hearing on Thursday afternoon, the lower court ruled to release him, ordering the lawmaker to give his contact number to authorities and to refrain from committing any unlawful actions.

MP Waheed was arrested the night of July 24 under accusations of trespassing on Parliament premises earlier that day while military and police officers were barring entry. His arrest warrant read that he had criminally forced his way past security into the parliament building though the Elections Commission had earlier declared him disqualified from Parliament.

Aside from MP Waheed, two other opposition lawmakers, Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth and Villingili MP Saud Hussain, were also arrested under the same accusation. The Criminal Court has extended their remands on three counts.
