A group of robbers that broke into a Villa-owned petrol station near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in capital Male City early on Saturday morning was in for a sombre surprise when all that was left in the cash registry was MVR 400, in small change.
According to the police, the robbers broke into the petrol shed through a vent.
An employee who works at the station told Mihaaru that the robbers had tried breaking into its office area first and that it would not have been an easy task for them.
“There wouldn’t be much cash in the registry anyway – just about MVR 400 in small change. They took that money though,” he said.
The incident was reported to the police Saturday morning who are currently probing the issue. No arrests in relation to the robbery have been made yet.
