BML made the announcement in celebration of the Women’s Day.
The Parliament moved to abolished taxation of maternity and menstruation pads and tampons via an amendment to the GST Act with the unanimous consensus of 73 parliamentarians on November 28, 2018. The legislature – one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s electoral pledges – was ratified on December 3, 2018, and took effect on December 10, 2018.
