Bill submitted seeking utilities subsidy to people with disabilities

An amendment was submitted to the Disability Act seeking to provide a utilities subsidy of MVR 2,000 to every individual listed under the national Disability Register.

The bill was lobbied by Jumhoory Party lawmaker of Kaashidhoo constituency Faisal Naseem, which propose the state to provide subsidies of MVR 1,000 each to electricity and water bills of all disabled persons.

The amendment also seeks to provide an additional MVR 500 to both the electricity and water bills for every child in a family raising more than one disabled child in the same household.
