Anantara to provide internship for children at State shelter

Anantara Resorts Maldives and Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide internship opportunities for children under State care at the Kudakudhinge Hiyaa.

The internship opportunities, under the Minor Hope Project, are for a one-year program and is designed to open the door for the children to secure employment in the Maldivian tourism and hospitality industry.

The MoU was signed in a ceremony held at the Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort this Sunday.

The MoU was signed on behalf of Anantara by General Manager Adrian Stopp, and on behalf of Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services by Minister Shidhatha Shareef.

Speaking during the ceremony, Shidhatha highlighted the role of the private sector in the transition of children under State care to the labour force upon reaching adulthood.

She praised Anantara Maldives for its contribution to the welfare of children under State care over the past years.

Shidhatha noted that one of the children who completed a training program facilitated by Anantara is currently successfully employed.

She advised children under State care to make full use of the internship opportunity for personal development and growth.

A previous MoU between Anantara and Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services allowed two children under State care the opportunity to complete a training program at its resorts.

The latest MoU will provide internships to three children.

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has cultivated similar MoUs with additional resorts and companies.
