Alessandra Ambrosio calls her daughter Anja her ‘ray of sunshine’ as she marks her 12th birthday with vacation to the Maldives

Alessandra Ambrosio had been isolating in her Santa Monica home for most of the COVID-19 lockdown.

But the model jetted off with her family to the Maldives to celebrate her daughter Anja’s 12th birthday.

She posted a series of photos to Instagram on Monday of the family celebrations and called Anja ‘My ray of sunshine.’

As the family enjoyed celebrations overlooking the Arabian Sea, the 39-year-old cuddled up to her daughter and planted a kiss on her cheek.

‘Today is her day,’ she wrote. ‘Happy 12th @anjalouise.a.m My ray of sunshine!’

The Brazilian beauty went on to reflect on her firstborn and the characteristics that make her special.

‘I remember the day I found out I was expecting her, my biggest dream, a miracle,’ Alessandra wrote.

Adding: ‘Since day one she made the world a better place, wherever she goes it becomes magical, she’s has a kind heart and everyone she meets she becomes friend with!’

Anja, who Alessandra shares with ex Jamie Mazur along with son Noah, eight, beamed in the photos in a darling yellow bikini.

Seated on a day bed, the pre-teen was presented with a large wicker tray of delights including pastries, cakes and refreshing drinks, and a pink sign spelling out her name.

Pink, blue and yellow balloons were attached to the basket that she pulled in for the picture with her mom, as she also held up silver ’12’ numbers.

‘To me, I get to have the best friend I ever imagine, my baby doll that is so brave,’ Alessandra continued in her caption. ‘She will try and be anything, and she gives her light to everyone that she encounters!! She’s pure magic!’

In another snap, Alessandra cosied up to Anja, pulling her into her lap, and placing a kiss on her head, as they wore flowers behind their ears.

The mother-of-two looked beach-ready in a cream coloured mini dress and her golden-brown hair flowing down in waves.

The basket full of treats also floated, as Anja posed on the edge of the infinity pool with the platter floating in front of her and the clear blue sea behind her.

‘May all your dreams come true,’ the former Victoria’s Secret Angel wrote alongside the photos of her daughter posing. ‘Happy birthday my angel.’

And cousins appeared to be along for the trip as Anja held her cousin and posed with her brother and another likely cousin.

Later in the day, Alessandra continued to chronicle the celebrations, including time down at the beach and exploring their resort Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi.

The model’s boyfriend Nicolo Oddi was also along for the vacation as they posed on the resort’s wooden above water decks.

Alessandra looked flawless in a satin cream, blue and green slip dress with a thigh high slit and sandals.

She added glam to her look with chandelier style gem earrings and a matching silver necklace.

Nicolo looked handsome in pressed brown slacks, brown dress shoes and a light white button-up shirt.

The family went on to enjoy dinner at a private seaside table with the beautiful sunset behind them and a lit pathway.

Anja got the head seat at the table to mark her special day, she wore a pink floral dress and a shell headdress.

She blew out the candles on her pink cake in a video. ‘Embrace your magic’ was written hanging above the cake.
