The Maldives’ graft watchdog on Monday summoned Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon, the son of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s leader and Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, for questioning over a case involving the lawmaker.
In a tweet, MP Faris declared that the Anti-Corruption Commission’s summons “appears to be politically motivated harassment” over Faris’ role in spearheading the motion of no confidence against parliament speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
On ACC’s orders, MP Faris is to present himself to the commission on Tuesday though ACC has not yet revealed details of the investigation involving the lawmaker.
