Look up ‘dream job’ in the dictionary, and a description of this vacancy at a luxury Maldives resort will probably come up.
Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu has revealed they’re looking for an intern to work in its turtle rescue centre for two weeks this summer, with all expenses covered. We are very close to dropping all other responsibilities and applying immediately.
While the word ‘intern’ might currently scream coffee runs, photocopying and sorting out the cupboards, that couldn’t be further away from the responsibilities Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu’s new recruit will have.
The internship involves working in the resort’s Marine Turtle Rescue Centre for two weeks in August, looking after turtles, posting on Instagram, and learning from veterinary experts.
Unfortunately, the position isn’t paid, but the lucky applicant will get to enjoy full board benefits, such as three meals of Maldivian cuisine a day in the hotel’s Cowrie restaurant. Oh, and a casual sunset cruise, diving, dolphin watching, and a guided group snorkelling trip in the stunning Baa Atoll. For free! IMAGINE.
The intern’s responsibilities will include feeding the turtles, cleaning tanks, observing surgeries and medical procedures, and attending rescue missions to collect turtles in need. The chosen applicant will also have to keep guests up to date on the project and share regular updates across social media.
Think this could be right up your street? You need to be a UK resident over 18, and while previous experience isn’t necessary, you do need to be keen to work in a related field. Applicants must submit a two to three-minute video and a 500-word cover letter explaining why they think they would be a good fit for the role by June 31.
Does ‘because I want a free holiday’ count?
